Harbourman Olympic – Early July
Two of our members traveled to Wicklow to take part in the Harbourman Olympic Triathlon hosted by Wicklow Triathlon Club – Gareth O’Brien crossed the line with a time of 2.35.05 and Fra Murphy stopped the clock on 3.04.28. Well done guys!
June 30th Weekend Roundup
Mary Hearty made a superb comeback to triathlon when she took on the Sheephaven Half Ironman distance race in Donegal and finished second lady overall.
Gerry Kenny was busy as usual swimming the Round the Rock event in Warrenpoint and placing second male o50 in the Kilkenny Sprint in the same weekend
Nuala oDonoghue is also home safe and sound after cycling through Europe raising money for the Irish Hospice Foundation.
John Tumilty ran a really quick 32.02 in the Irish Runner 5 mile. Well done all!
June 23rd Weekend Roundup
Another busy weekend for Setanta members with Gerry Kenny racing both Friday night at the Long Woman’s 5km in Omeath (1st over 60) and the Down Triathlon Club Beyond the Wall triathlon (3rd over 60).
Meanwhile Sarah Quinn and Chris Rocks completed the Skerries triathlon on Sunday with Sarah clocking a 1.27.42 overall and Chris running a super 18.30 5k.
Laura o Driscoll along with Johnny completed the Doddie Weir cycle around Ireland for the MND charity. Well done all.
June 15th Weekend Roundup
Another busy weekend of racing for Setanta athletes. Laura o Driscoll, Johnny Conway and Lorraine Dunne traveled to Westport to take part in the Gael Force West Adventure Race with Laura placing second lady, Johnny was 7th overall and Lorraine was 14th.
Marianne Kavanagh, Declan O Reilly and Frank mc Kevitt traveled to Clogherhead and finished the Round the Head swim in less than favourable conditions.
Also on Saturday, Michael McGee completed the Ballinskellig Hartman Triathlon.
Gerry Kenny and Peter Tomany were in Emyvale on Sunday morning and rode the Tour of Monaghan 90km
June 9th Weekend Roundup
The main event was the Crooked Lake triathlon held at Camlough attended by 11 Setanta members. While the weather was poor with rain during the bike and run sections, Setanta recorded a number of podium places. First up, Julia Van Coller placed 3rd in the Junior section in her first triathlon. Sarah Quinn and Chris Rocks both came first in their age group, while Gerry Kenny placed 2nd. Darren Moynagh making his return to competition, raced strongly as did Roisin Ellis, Gareth O’Brien, Frank McKevitt, Paul Black, Mike McGee and Fra Murphy.
Thanks to Newry Triathlon Club for a really enjoyable and friendly race as always. Well done all.
June 2nd Weekend Roundup
A very busy week for Setanta members as Triathlon season has begun.
Gretta Loughran and Sheena Dullaghan competed in Ironman Hamburg with Gretta finishing in 10:43 and Sheena in 12:14. Fantastic results, congratulations Ladies.
At Try Athy, Kim McKenna came 4th in the Tri a Try and Gerry Kenny placed 1st in his age group. Zoe Nevin also competed in the Newry TC aquathon on Wednesday.
Setanta members including John Tumilty, Zoe Nevin and Gerry Kenny were busy at various races including the Knockbridge 5k, Newry 10k, Drogheda 10k and Bob Heffernan 5k.
Elsewhere Ian Kavanagh, Nuala O’Donoghue, Karen Murphy and Fra Murphy completed the Tour of Louth. Lorraine Dunne completed the IMRA half marathon in Cooley. Well done everybody.
